Piyatat Hemmatat

Born in Thailand in 1976, Piyatat Hemmatat is currently working as an artist in the United Kingdom (London) and Thailand.
He graduated from the University of the Arts in London with a postgraduate degree. In addition to his artistic activities, he teaches art at universities and the school he founded.
His work has been permanently preserved at the Natural History Museum in London. He has also had numerous works installed in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in the Mahanakorn Building in Bangkok.
The APASMARA series features a demonstration that took place in Bangkok in 2010. The demonstration occurred between the regime and the people. The government dispatched a detachment to suppress the demonstrations using live ammunition.
He left the marks of live ammunition in the artwork, expressing his wish that “we should not forget the incident and think of peace.”
