AND COLLECTION Contemporary Art is pleased to present “Collage”, a solo exhibition by contemporary artist YOICHIRO ANDO.

YOICHIRO ANDO has been creating female figures with concealed eyes—the organs that govern emotional expression. By obscuring this vital source of information, he conveys that what we see is not always the truth, and highlights the importance of focusing on the essence of things as they are, free from the preconceptions hidden in everyday life.

Titled “Collage”, this exhibition features not only the three-dimensional, graceful female figures that have long been central to ANDO’s practice, but also new works inspired by encounters across various fields, interwoven with latent motifs and given tangible form. While maintaining a firm core identity, ANDO refuses to be confined by it, instead establishing his mode of expression by collaging diverse scenes with flexible interpretation. His works also depict how serendipitous encounters hold the potential to expand perception and transform the surrounding world.

◼︎YOICHIRO ANDO

Since 1997, YOICHIRO ANDO has been active as an illustrator and graphic designer. From 2000 onward, under the name “YOICHIRO,” he expanded his practice to include live painting linked with fashion and music, as well as product design in collaboration with companies. His extensive experience and powerful, distinctive design language have earned him wide recognition, leading to collaborations with fashion brands such as LOUIS VUITTON and COACH, as well as live painting and product design projects with renowned artists including HYDE, GLAY’s HISASHI, LiSA, and EXILE.His versatility—ranging from works that showcase his unique individuality to collaborative pieces that harmonize seamlessly with others—combined with a keenly attuned, market-conscious approach to creation, has been highly acclaimed across various fields. In recent years, he has further expanded his reach internationally, participating in overseas art fairs and continuing to broaden his scope of activity both in Japan and abroad.
