Robert Mars
ミクストメディア/コラージュを使ってラグジュアリーと名声を探究するニューヨークで活躍するアメリカ人アーティスト。
Andy WarholとRobert Rauschenbergの影響を受け、過去のポップアイコンと印刷物・ペイント・蛍光管を組み合わせユーモラスな方法で描いている。彼はキャンバスの表面に茶色の紙を何層か重ねて下地を作り、外形を型取りカラーの背景を描画。その後、ペイントと古い雑誌の端材を交互に塗り、層の一部を削って画像を加工後にレジンやネオンを加えてビンテージの品質を呼び起こし制作する。
マーズ氏は「私は、インパクトを与えた50年代、60年代のものを生かし続けたかった。そしてそれらは今でも人々に影響を与え続けている。」と言う。
彼は、ロナルド・マクドナルド、Coca-Cola社、ニーマンマーカス、Bank of America、adidas、NIKE等々、多くの著名人(企業)をコレクターに持ち世界で活躍している。

He is an American artist working in New York who explores luxury and prestige through the use of collage.
Andy Warhol and Robert Rauschenberg influence him. Mars humorously combines pop icons from the past with printed matter, paint, and fluorescent tubes. He creates a base of several layers of brown paper on the canvas’s surface, molds the outline, and paints a colored background. Then, he alternates between paints and old magazine scraps, scraping off some of the layers to manipulate the images and adding resin and neon to evoke a vintage quality.
He said: “I wanted to keep alive the things that really made an impact in the 50s and 60s and still have relevance today.”
Mars has been active in the world with many famous people (and companies) as collectors, including Ronald McDonald, Coca-Cola, Neiman Marcus, Bank of America, Adidas, NIKE, and many others.
