STEPHEN WILSON

STEPHEN WILSON

He was born and raised in Hoboken, New Jersey.
This mixed media artist creates a unique balance by harmonizing pop culture and traditional craftsmanship. While freelancing in the New York apparel industry in the 90s, he learned textile techniques, which led him to develop his own unique digital embroidery techniques.
Wilson reuses disused high-brand packaging and products. Using his embroidery know-how, he creates innovative and beautiful artwork that fuses packaging with intricate textiles created by digital rendering and 3D printing. The colorful embroidery involves millions of stitches based on complex compositions, and the production takes a long time. And while reflecting the aesthetics of pop culture, they also pose the question of extravagant consumerism to the viewers.
Not only fashionable but also elegant, his works have attracted art collectors not only in the U.S. but also in Italy, Japan, and other countries. Famous commercial institutions such as Lincoln Center in New York and Catch restaurant in L.A. are among the collectors of his works.
