François Bel

François Bel

He is a multi-artist from Lyon, France, who works in painting, sculpture, and installation at will.
Influenced by street art, he draws inspiration from a system of constant repetition and change. Attracted by the messages implied by Marcel Duchamp’s readymades and Dada’s pop art, he destroys familiar commodities of our daily life to criticize the consumerist society of today, and projects them into his works with an artistic and philosophical approach.
His signature piece, a small “Big Bang” sculpture scattered on acrylic glass, captures the ultimate moment when an object magically pops.In a society where everything happens increasingly quickly and mankind controls a great many things, François Bel crystallises every person’s dream by stopping time for an instant in his works.Behind the context, the work expresses the rebelliousness and anger of those of us trapped within economic, cultural, and political systems. He evokes the inevitability of passing time while reminding us of the importance of living in the present.
His works have been exhibited in Belgium, France, Monaco, Spain, the United States, Korea, and many other countries, and are loved by many collectors.
